After the Fall of the Western Roman Empire, "barbarians" divided up western Europe and a new political structure began...modern Europe. However, many twist and turns occured before that happened. The historical period that came after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, falling between the classical periods of Greece and Rome and the Modern period, was the Middle Ages, Medieval in Latin. It spans from c.476-c.1453, and that will be our next unit.
