Updated - After the Fall of the Western Roman Empire, "barbarians" divided up western Europe and a new political structure began...modern Europe. However, many twist and turns will occur before that happened. The historical period that comes between the collapse of the Roman Empire in the West, i.e. the classical periods of Greece and Rome, and the Modern period, is the Middle Ages, Medieval in Latin. It spans from c.476-c.1453, and that will be our next unit.
